this was a longitudinal project which connected academics, engineers at
Nortel and school pupils in an online learning community.
Starting in 1994 it provided seven state schools across the
primary/secondary sector with computers and an internet connection,
thus enabling them to connect via Mosaic to the internet and via Frist
Class to an online community.
In 1997 with advances in technology the emphasis moved from text
communications to video communications and designed video 'wallpaper',
stories and iterations of video swopped between users.
In 1999 the schools began using laptops and mobile phones to communicate with each other.
The project ended in 2000. The seven schools involved were early
pioneers and throughout the project continued to be groundbreakers in
the use of technology in learning.
